| Popis: | In the middle of the 19th century, national and international information gathered in the newspapers of the Canary Islands reached both the Archipelago together with the goods imported from the outside. The submarine telegraphic cable that linked the Islands with Cádiz was not installed successfully until 1883. According to this context, this paper will analyze the formats, the sources, the contents and the spread of that foreign information in the society of the Canary Islands. With this research objective, we had examined the 98 issues that, from October 1852, to October 1853, were edited by El Porvenir de Canarias, the first private newspaper of the eastern zone of the Archipelago. |
