The seeds of Pinus tropicalis have low germination percentage because it is necessary to deepen the most appropriate methods to evaluate the quality of the seeds from the viability, therefore this research was developed with the objective of evaluating the viability of the seeds with different storage times The seeds came from the simple mass La Manaja, Macurije Agroforestry Company, Pinar del Río, with different storage times two, four seven and nine years in the refrigerator and 3 months in environmental conditions. The experiments were performed under laboratory conditions. The methodologies established for these analyzes were applied. The seeds were initially placed in water to facilitate the removal of the testa, once removed they were treated with the coloring solutions, in each case the evaluation criteria were taken into account to determine the viable and non-viable seeds depending on the part of the colored or uncolored seed. Germination data from the different storage years were used for comparison. The data obtained were statistically processed by an analysis of variance and the Duncan test. The tetrazolium test showed the highest values for seeds harvested in 2018 with three months of storage, followed by 2-year-old seeds harvested. Feasibility decreased with storage time. The tetrazolium and indigo carmine test showed no significant differences for the different storage times, but with respect to germination. |
