Popis: In petrochemical industry, the step of abrasive blasting in naphtha storage tanks, in preparation of the surface for application of anti-corrosion coatings generate, by intervention in each tank, approximately 100 tons of waste classified as class II A. Two annual interventions, in average, are carried out in each tank. In this context, the main objective of this paper is to evaluate the use of blasting abrasive wastes as fine aggregate, instead of natural sand, in concrete production. For this research, one water/cement ratio was specified, with subsequent use of the abrasive waste in three different levels, 25%, 50% and 75%, in substitution by natural fine aggregate. The behavior of compressive strength at 7, 28 and 91 days, flexure strength at 28 days, capillary water absorption at 28 days and the pozzolanicity of the waste were analyzed. As a result of the tests realized, it can be seen that for both mechanical strength and water absorption by capillarity, the concrete with up to 50% replacement of fine aggregate by blasting waste, is a technically adequate alternative that adds value to the waste and, mainly, minimizes impacts at the environment.
