Popis:	Several factors can compromise growth and development of individuals, among them are prematurity and low birth weight. Therefore, this article aims to describe the evolution of concepts related to prematurity and risk factors that lead to its occurrence. In this context, are also emphasized, measures of prevention and early intervention in the areas of Education, Special Education and Health can contribute greatly to the full development of individuals born prematurely.
