Schwannomas and Perineuromas are rare findings in the GI tract, especially in pediatric patients. They typically present in the fifth to sixth decade of life with a female predominance. In this case, we describe a 13-year-old female who presented with multiple GI complaints including weight loss and anemia. She was found to have an umbilicated mass in the lesser curvature of the stomach suspicious of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). The mass was resected via a laparoscopic partial gastrectomy. The pathology report confirmed the diagnosis of a gastric hybrid schwannoma and perineuroma staining for EMA and S-100 protein. |
