Popis:	Stroke is one of the most serious cardiovascular events with severe consequences, up to paralysis and death. Patients at high risk of stroke include those with atrial fibrillation; in such patients prevention of stroke is particularly relevant. The article discusses the main issues of efficacy and safety of apixaban for the prevention of stroke in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
