The present article results from the reflections produced by the Master’s thesis, still in process, in the Public Policies Research Line of the Federal University of Minas Gerais School of Education – Fae/UFMG. This study indicates structural changes implemented in the career path of the public K-12 education from Minas Gerais state since 2008, following the implementation of the Teachers National Minimum Wage by the State Executive Power. The initiative introduced not merely the subsidy as a way of payment, but numerous changes in the career. It was verified the reduction in the percentages of promotions and progress in the career under a subsidy form, as well as in the incorporation of benefits and rewards to the minimum wage as a way to observe the federal legislation. This measure suggests that it has been a process of devaluation of the profession due to the re-positioning of the older employees in the beginning of the career. |
