Increasing evidence has shown that patients with stroke are at high risks of suicide, which seriously affects their prognosis and rehabilitation. The pathogenesis of post-stroke suicide is still unclear, which may be involved with the influence of biological, psychological, social and family factors, etc. Among them, post-stroke depression (PSD) is considered to be the strongest related factor of PSD. In addition, biological factors(such as changes in brain structures and 5-hydroxytryptamine dysfunction)or age and gender, may also mediate the suicide behavior of stroke patients. In this article, the latest research status of the pathogenesis of post-stroke suicide was reviewed, aiming to provide theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of post-stroke suicide. |
