Stray current generated from DC rail transit system would lead to severe electrochemical corrosion on buried gas pipeline. Due to significant dynamic characteristics of stray current, the corrosion of gas pipelines may not be discovered in time, especially when the frequency of in-line inspection is low. In view of this, we originally develop a novel dynamic assessment approach for corrosion rate distribution along the gas pipeline subjected to stray current corrosion. In this model, fluctuation of stray current and influencing parameters are involved in measuring the uncertainty of corrosion rate by using Monte Carlo simulation and specific corrosion behavior is also taken into consideration. The results show that, when the gas pipeline is parallel to the subway line, corrosion rate in the middle section of gas pipeline is much higher than the section at both ends. |
