Properties of Olive Stones with a View to Their use as Lightweight Aggregate in Construction Mortars

| Popis: | In countries that are big producers of olive oil such as Spain, Italy, or Greece, large amounts of olive husk remain as waste from processing olives and pose a serious environmental issue. One of the solutions could be to use this waste to partially replace sand in cement mortar to preserve the environment, decrease the consumption of cement, and improve economic benefits. This work presents our initial results which show the viability of using olive waste as an aggregate in cementitious mortars, indicating that the organic materials studied can be promising for this purpose. |
