Popis: | While the recent «migration crisis» or «asylum crisis» experienced by the Mediterranean world and Europe has helped draw media attention to the millions of migrants and asylum seekers who risk their lives on the shores of southern Europe, this media coverage has on the other hand tended to obscure the inclusion of these mobility issues over the long term. The purpose of this dossier is to conduct a conjoint study of the processes of migration and exile that have moved the populations of southern Europe from the 19th century to the present day, showing that this part of the continent has been by turns a land of exile and a land of asylum, while at the same time shedding light on areas traditionally considered as peripheral in the history of European political exile. By paying close attention to the areas of migration and to the collective and individual itineraries of exiles, which it will endeavour to reconstruct, the dossier will seek to explore research perspectives that will make it possible to renew the history of populations on the move, through an approach based on age group or gender, or by developing a historical perspective with an anthropological approach to the host areas and societies. |
