In the current work, selenium oxide (SeO) which functions as an antioxidant in plants is studied and compared with self-assembled nanotubes of 3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl benzylamine derivative of single amino acid phenylalanine nanotubes (BPPNTs) decorated/intercalated SeO nanocomposites. Structural characterizations were done by UV, FT-IR, P-XRD, HR-TEM, Raman, and electrochemical studies. This study is conducted to determine the potential of BPPNTs-SeO composite against the radical formations through in-vitro tests like hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) and 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydroxyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay. The Impacts of covalent fictionalization of BPPNTs-SeO nanocomposites and their geometric and electronic properties are examined by the first-principles calculations. Energy of interaction and the charge distribution of the functionalized BPPNTs with the SeO are used to explain the antioxidant potential of the reported nanocomposite. |
