The learning disability is a major obstacle for basic education in the current context. In the discipline of Biology, Genetics involves the discussion of abstract concepts, which are not always easily understood by students, causing difficulties in the teaching-learning process. The textbook often becomes the only teaching tool used and, for this reason, it must present a contextualized view of the contents. This work aimed to identify how human genetic changes have been addressed in textbooks. All the excerpts related to Human Genetics from the Biology textbooks adopted for the 3rd year of High School in the public school in the city of Codó (MA) were analyzed. The analysis showed that the studied books present some contents in a superficial way and they are not contextualized with the students' reality. Thus, the importance of updating the analyzed books is emphasize. |
