| Popis: | At the beginning of 2002, the new euro currency was introduced in 12 of the 15 States of the European Union. The study of the national origin of coins can be used – under certain conditions – to produce a picture of global mobility of Europeans across national boundaries. The paper presents the results of two surveys carried out in France and Belgium in December 2003 on a representative panel of population. The results demonstrate that the distribution of foreign euros is strongly related to classic spatial interaction rules (distance to boundary, size of the state of origin) but is also influenced by other factors like tourism or linguistic boundaries. |
