Popis: Action potentials induce synchronous and asynchronous release of neurotransmitters. Here, the authors show that the synchronous and asynchronous release sites are aligned with AMPARs and NMDARs, respectively, in mouse hippocampal synapses. This organization allows efficient activation of NMDARs.
