Popis: | The article provides substantial analysis of a valuable historical source, i.e. an inventory that was made in 1789 following the death of A.F. Turchinov, a major Ural manufacturer. The author studies the procedures underlying the partition of inherited property with no testament left by the deceased person, describing the partition of real estate located in different governorates and the parts each of the heirs was entitled to. The author reconstructs the years-long history and stages behind the drawing of different parts of the inventory. The author mainly focuses of the parts that include descriptions of Ural plants that were common property, i.e. the property to be shared by all the heirs. The article provides a detailed description of works that were part of the real estate (mines, forests, etc.), i.e. those of Sysert, Polevskoy and Seversk Plants as well as houses, manors, industrial offices, gardens, shops, bakeries, utility structures and other real estate in Yekaterinburg, Irbit, and Solikamsk. The author describes the general assignment of capital that provides data on the money the plant owner spent on their development, as well as consolidated financial statements on the amount and price of copper and cast iron at the three plants. The 1789 Inventory in question is not only unique because it is an important historical source but also because it proves that in the 18th century there was an important mansion in the Urals which was comparable in its size and riches to the largest estates of Russia at the time. |
