Some time ago, we considered non-Gaussian shapes of histograms of quantities that were related to residuals in data: we showed at a qualitative level that non-Gaussianity is most likely the result of mixing of Gaussian distributions. In this addendum, we argue that there is a quantitative description that can be used in fairly general situations.
