Popis: | The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the elements of the composition of a book called compositional rhyme in the novels by Turgenev and Dostoyevsky. This element is discussed in the frames of genre specification of novels in the context of the unified genre paradigm, namely ideological novel. The article contains a list of the key structural attributes of an ideological novel and its genre forms: the type of the main character (hero-ideologist), correlation of ideological and psychological aspects in the structure of the character’s image, personification of ideas in the characters’ images or its absence, the principle of building the plot («the novel of the person» or «the novel of the deed»), «closed» or «open» ending. The analysis of compositional rhymes in «Fathers and Sons» and «Crime and Punishment» reveals, on the one hand, the similarity of the artistic world of the novels on the level of plot and composition, and, on the other hand, there is a serious difference between them from the point of view of the use of one and the same structural element. Turgenev presents compositional rhymes as something natural and spontaneous, while Dostoyevsky shows them as something deliberate and experimental. This difference is one of the features that differentiates between the genre forms of the novels by Turgenev and Dostoyevsky, the first being ideological true to life novel, the latter — ideological novel-experiment. |
