Popis: A socio-historical analysis of the emergence of Intercultural Universities (IUs) in Mexico and elements of interculturalism built around neo-indigenism public policies from the postrevolutionary era, is presented. Through a recount of the main legal events and governmental organization around the original peoples, some reflections are explained in this regard. It is stated that the IUs did not emerge due to a momentary occurrence, nor were they a direct consequence of a specific historical event, but each is due to the consequence of a series of events that occurred historically. Each of them has a different history that makes them unique and unrepeatable and not or all of them were created under the influence and direction of the CGEIB. The IUs are part of Mexican neo-indigenism and are part of the ongoing ethnophagic process. Interculturality in these institutions has been taken as rhetoric, but as the example of the Universidad Autónoma Indígena de México (UAIM) they have transgressed international rights in matters of ethnic and cultural diversity.
