Investigating the condition of 'Management Information System (MIS)' in Central Libraries of Tehran universities from Managers view

| Popis: | Â Nowadays, the development of Management Information System (MIS) in organizations has become inevitable, because these systems provide necessary information for awareness of managers and proper decision making for leadership and control. A library, as an organization or a sub section of mother organization, follow Principles of management. Using MIS can have positive effect in management decision making. The present research investigated the condition of "Library Management Information System"(LMIS) at central libraries in Tehran city universities affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) & the Ministry of Health and Medical Education (MHME). Through this descriptive survey, a researcher-made questionnaire and interview were used for data collecting. Research tools distributed among the managers and the collected data were analyzed by Minitab software. The results showed that LMIS has not been applied in any of the libraries under study. The amount information that satisfied needs of managers by LMIS, was more than average. Designing and applying a standard and desirable LMIS based on informational needs of managers is recommended for academic libraries . Â Â |
