Popis: Cuillerier et al. investigate compensatory mechanisms underlying survival of mice with a liver-specific knockout of the mitochondrial mRNA-binding protein Lrpprc. They propose various mechanisms operating along the OXPHOS assembly line, including mitochondrial biogenesis, mitochondrial ribosome upregulation and preferential supercomplex assembly, that could compensate lack of LRPPRC and allow survival of these mice.
