Popis: The communicative interaction is the central point of the language and occurs within the linguistic ecosystem. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the communicative interaction in the linguistic ecosystem of the legend of “Cabeça de Cuia”. To support the research, a theoretical basis is sought in the studies by Couto (2007, 2013, 2015 and 2016) and in Couto and Couto (2019) on ecolinguistics and its branch called ecosystem linguistics; and in the works of Magalhães (2011) and Silva (1982) on the legend of “Cabeça de Cuia”. In the research methodology, a holistic view is assumed, starting from a qualitative approach and adopting ecomethodology, using the focusing method. The results reveal that the communicative interaction occurs in the natural environment, in the mental environment and in the social environment of the integral ecosystem of the legend of “Cabeça de Cuia”, being more remarkable in the mental environment, with dialogues that lead to interactions between the connections of the neurons (P2) and the brains / minds (T2) of the interlocutors. It appears that the legend of “Cabeça de Cuia” is associated with the transformations that took place in the region for the foundation of Teresina, the new capital of the state of Piauí, marked by the properties: interrelations, adaptation, evolution and integration, identified in the analysis of interactions of the integral linguistic ecosystem. It is concluded that the communicative interaction in the linguistic ecosystem of the legend of the “Cabeça de Cuia” constitutes a simple speech community, in which peoples (p1 and p2) use the Portuguese language for person-person interaction, characterized by the disharmony in the dialogue between speakers and listeners, generating discommunication.
