Popis: Spinal injuries are frequent traumas with high mortality and morbidity. Spinal gunshot injury-related rhabdomyolysis is a condition which develops in approximately half of the patients. Rhabdomyolysis results from rapid injury of the muscles and degradation products. Amount of the degradation products is associated with the magnitude and the severity of the muscle injury. Renal failure and even death may occur when the amount of degradation products exceeds the renal clearance capacity. Cervical region is the spinal region which is exposed to injury least and which has the highest mortality. Rhabdomyolysis develops more frequently in cervical region injuries due to the risk of plegia and paresis development in large muscle groups. In this paper, we presented a patient who developed cervical spinal gunshot injury-related rhabdomolysis and renal failure.
