Popis: The article is devoted to the study of the exploits of officers of the Russian Imperial army in the campaign of 1914 on the example of units of the 7th infantry division and their encouragement with various battle awards. The study of the history of the First world war became very relevant in the post-Soviet period. Many articles and monographs have been published on the difficult and ambiguous events of that distant war in recent years. The article focuses on the personal approach to the study of the combat path of officers of individual units of the Russian Imperial army. The author states that the beginning of the First world war caused the rise of Patriotic feelings in Russian society. Enthusiasm reigned in the ranks of the armed forces of the Empire and, above all, among the officer corps. The fairly successful start of the war, especially on the South-Western front, encouraged optimism and encouraged the officers of the military units of the 7th infantry division to show courage and bravery and perform heroic deeds.Studying the regimental logs of military operations for 1914, orders and the highest commands on representations to various awards (especially to the order of St. George and the George weapon), the author has revealed a sufficient number of facts confirming not just the performance of their military duty, but precisely the manifestation of heroic behavior by officers of the 7th infantry division.A sample of factors from the combat history of 4 infantry regiments and one artillery brigade allowed us to assert that the heroic mood was very common in the officer environment of that time, and the revival in the minds of people of the names of specific heroes of that war, allows us to preserve their grateful memory.
