Etiologic analysis of recurrent pregnancy losses

Popis: INTRODUCTION: Two or more consecutive loss of pregnancy prior to 20 weeks is called recurrent pregnancy loss. We reviewed the records retrospectively and analyzed the etiology of recurrent pregnancy losses in our region. METHODS: This study was carried out by Saglik Bilimleri University Diyarbakir Dr. Gazi Yasargil Training and Research Hospital. We retrospectively analyzed the cases of recurrent pregnancy loss between February 2015 and May 2017, who applied to Obstetrics and Gynecology Policlinic. RESULTS: The mean age, mean gravida, mean parity, and mean abortus counts of the cases were; 26.4+-7.2, 4.4+-1.8, 0.8+-1.2 and 3.1+-1.4, respectively. Only 6.7% of the cases were using cigarettes. When the etiological causes of the cases are analyzed; Coagulation disorder, progesterone deficiency, chronic systemic diseases, uterine anomalies, chromosomal anomalies and unknown causes were detected 20.5%, 16.5%, 12%, 8.9%, 6.5% and 35.6%, respectively. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Recurrent pregnancy loss is an important obstetric problem that causes emotional problems for couples and has many causes that are not yet explained in the etiology. In these cases, an evaluation should be made at an advanced level and possible causes should be revealed to prevent repetition.
