Popis: | The political and territorial fragmentation of Iraq is at the origin of territorial oddities. Some parts of Iraqi territory are controlled by armed non-State actors (militias) supported by tutelary powers, usually competitors. The contact zones of these territories are not always clearly established, as they are the result of arrangements dating back to recent wars. Between Mosul and Erbil, thousands of displaced people from the province of Nineveh during the conflict against the Islamic State survive in a territorial between-two that is neither autonomous Kurdistan nor federal Iraq. This article explains the reasons that led to the existence of such a territorial interstice, the reasons that led the United Nations to install camps for displaced people and finally the reasons that, almost 7 years after the end of the conflict, displaced people from Mosul can no longer return to their region of origin. |
