Religiosity in the cerrado: the holy Divine Spirit festival in Pirenópolis/GO

Popis: The Holy Divine Spirit which takes place in Pirenópolis (Goiás) since 1819 is a significant manifestation of popular religiosity that lasts for generations and is very expressive, so it was recognized as Cultural Heritage of Brazil in 2010. It is intended from field observations and photographic records made in 2014, describe some aspects of this awaited festival prepared by people from Pirenópolis community. It is also intended to present the unique knowledge and doings of this Holy Divine Spirit festival. To do so, we discuss also the existing literature about this celebration and aspects related with heritage rural life, highlighting some of the events as the Folias, the Cavalhadas, The Mascarados, the Emperor, The Reinado and the Juizado. It is also presented food aspects that make up the whole ritualistic and spatiality of the Festival. Keywords: Holy Divine Spirit Festival; Religiosity; Pirenópolis.
