Aquesta contribució analitza la influència dels clàssics llatins (inclosos els pares de l’Església) en l’obra poètica i les contribucions periodístiques i assagístiques de Joan Maragall. Tot i les dificultats epistemològiques per valorar la influència directa dels clàssics en l’obra maragalliana, se n’evidencia l’amplitud de lectures, especialment de Virgili en el darrer Maragall. This contribution deals with the influence of Latin classics (including the Latin fathers of the church) on the poetry, journal articles, and essays of the Catalan poet Joan Maragall. Despite the epistemological problems arising when trying to categorize the direct influence of the Classics on Maragall’s works, the Catalan writer had a wide knowledge of the Latin classics, and Vergil’s influence in particular emerges in the last period of his life. |
