Popis: The paper aims at studying the tourism attractiveness of a region as a factor of territory development. The author provides an assessment of the tourist market of the Yaroslavl region, the use of tourism potential, its state and perspectives. The methodological bases of the study are: the systematic approach, methods of economic analysis, content analysis, observation, methods of expert assessments.The research allowed concluding that all the principal problems of the modern Russian tourism market exist in Yaroslavl region as well. The potential of the Yaroslavl region allows developing almost all the types of tourism, including children and youth tourism, business tourism, event tourism, industrial tourism, pilgrimage tourism. To preserve the rich natural, historical and cultural heritage of the region it is necessary to carry out restoration work and develop infrastructure. Tourism in Yaroslavl region is now extensively developing, but this activity often lacks a comprehensive and systematic approach. Tourism in Yaroslavl region is recognized as one of the strategic sectors of the regional economy. Yet it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of the regional tourism management, introduce modern economic management tools, to take into account the latest scientific developments in the field of tourism economy.The conclusions and recommendations of this work can be used by agencies of regional and local government, as well as organizations of the tourism industry to develop measures to develop the tourist potential of the Yaroslavl region. Materials of the research may be useful for the learning process in the preparation of bachelors in the direction of «Tourism».
