Popis: A Christian exegetical Corpus concerning the Bible that comes into existence starting in the second century (composed of the earliest commentators, Church fathers, and scholastics) converges in the Summa of Saint Thomas Aquinas. After the Council of Trent, citations from early exegetes multiply in Golden Age sermons. Preachers turn to Florileges and Polyanthes, but also to works by modern authors who published original exegeses. If employing numerous citations in sermons contributed to the transmission of biblical exegesis, it also posed problems concerning the use of erudition, the permissible limits of imitation, and even the possibility of plagiarism. The Panegírico funeral del rey Felipe III delivered by Paravicino in 1625 and censored immediately by an anonymous scholar serves as an exemplary illustration of the mechanisms for the use of recent exegesis (Juan Márquez and Diego de Baeza) by a celebrated Royal Preacher.
