Popis: The calculation and determination of damage indices and corresponding damage and repair states (DSs and RSs) are effective estimation tools for seismic vulnerability evaluation of steel plate shear walls (SPSWSs) due to experiencing different failure mechanisms at various loading levels. The unique properties of trapezoidally corrugated steel plate shear walls (TCSPSWs) have made them promising alternatives to stiffened SPSWs. The aim of this research is the probabilistic seismic damage assessment of TCSPSWs using an appropriate damage index to investigate the occurrence, location, and intensity of damage in these walls. To achieve this objective, damage and repair states for TCSPSWs, along with their limits based on the drift damage index, were proposed by examining the damage histories of experimental specimens. Sets of flat steel plate shear wall (FSPSW) and TCSPSW specimens with various corrugation angles and different story numbers representing low-rise buildings were designed. Incremental dynamic analyses (IDA) were then conducted, and fragility curves based on the proposed RSs were obtained using the probabilistic seismic demand analysis (PSDA) method. The results show that in the first RS, corresponding to cosmetic damage to SPSW components, FSPSWs have a lower repair probability than TCSPSWs. However, TCSPSWs demonstrated better seismic performance and lower damage potential in the other RSs.
