Popis: Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is the developmental anomalies of intracranial vascular structures and a congenital malformation. Clinical signs and findings may begin at any age; however, it has a higher incidence in patients younger than age of 40. Signs and findings vary according to the diameter, anatomy and size of AVM and the veins it affects. In this case report, it was aimed to evaluate the nursing care of a 22-year-old male patient, who applied to the emergency service of a university hospital in Gaziantep province with complaints of headache, decrease in neck movements and vomiting and had experienced these symptoms for the fourth time, according to the 'Self-care Deficit Nursing Theory'. Following the emergency evaluation, the patient was hospitalized in the neurosurgery intensive care unit and followed for three days. Then, he was taken to the neurosurgery clinic. Nursing theories and models are guides which form a basis for the training, administration, application and research areas of nursing by offering a conceptual framework. The theories and models contribute to the development and professionalization of nursing profession. Orem's Self-care Deficit Nursing Theory is one of the most frequently used theories in nursing practices.
