Introduction: Dysraphic defects are malformations resulting from a failed neural tube closure in a critical moment of embryogenesis. These structural alterations may include contractures, varus and valgus deformities, scoliosis or hip joint dislocations. According to the literature of the subject, the incidence of dysraphic defects ranges from 1.2% to 4.0% of live births. It is believed that 30% of cases are caused by genetic and environmental factors. The aim of the work was to assess the knowledge of female students of medical courses regarding isolated neural tube defects and their prevention. |
