Popis: The article presents data of the literature review and own observations on studying the role of genetic factors in the risk of development and progression of severe complications of diabetic distal symmetric polyneuropathy. It was found that in patients with non-insulin-dependent (type 2) diabetes mellitus complicated by distal symmetric polyneuropathy, there is an association between the homozygous ТТ genotype of endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene G894T polymorphism and significant subjective symptoms, the presence of axonal lesion of motor nerves according to electroneuromyography, with an increase in the level of glycated hemoglobin, and also in the content of lipid peroxidation products.
