Popis: The article describes the main stages of the formation and development of finift icon painting in Russia. Finift is a type of artistic enamel typical for Russia which Rostov masters began painting small wearable icons on at the end of the 18th century. After analysing individual objects known as finift icons of the 19th and early 20th centuries the author defines the iconographic and stylistic features of these works. Literary works are also cited as additional sources.
