Nutritional deficiency is one of the factors affecting bean production in several regions of Brazil and the low yield of this crop is often due to inadequate exploitation in areas with low fertility, and little technological investment. Seed treatment with micronutrients is a practical and efficient way to provide them faster for cultivation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality of bean seeds submitted to different soaking periods in solutions with boron and molybdenum. For the application of boron (B) and molybdenum (Mo) micronutrients in bean seeds, the sources were initially dissolved in 4 ml of distilled water and subsequently the seeds were soaked for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 hours. at room temperature, and for the control, the untreated seeds were used, constituting the zero period. After each imbibition period the seeds were submitted to the following tests: germination percentage, first germination count, root and shoot dry mass and length. The experimental design was completely randomized with four replications of 25 seeds. Seed imbibition time in boron and molybdenum solutions positively influenced bean seed germination and vigor, soaking for a period of five hours was recommended |
