Acute respiratory infections can arise due to cramped housing, overcrowding, a dirty environment, poor ventilation and inadequate lighting. This study aims to determine the correlation between the physical condition of the home environment with the incidence of ARI. This study is an observational analytic study using a case control approach, and examined 80 samples obtained through simple random sampling technique, with a ratio of 1:1 = 40:40. The data were analyzed statistically using the chi-square test.Through the research, the following results were obtained: correlation of the incidence of ARI with the walls of the house is (p-value = 0.000 with OR = 31.667), with the temperature of the house is (p-value = 0.001 with OR = 6.378), with ventilation is (p-value = 0.004 with OR = 4.314), with the economic factor is (p-value = 0.001 with OR = 12,667), no correlation was found with the level of occupancy density, where (p-value = 0.066 with OR = 2.636), and no correlation was found with humidity, where (p-value = 0.223 with OR = 2.067).This study concluded that house walls, house temperature, ventilation, economic factors had a correlation with the incidence of ARI, while the density of occupancy and humidity did not have such a correlation.Puskesmas are advised to improve health services to the community, especially regarding efforts to overcome the causes and risk factors for ARI, and the community is encouraged to pay more attention to the cleanliness of their homes, open windows, and recognize early signs or symptoms of ARI disease. |
