Popis: This study aims to: 1) identify teaching materials that are usually used by teachers in teaching in the classroom; 2) identify difficulties in learning physics material; 3) identify the need for handbooks for students; and 4) Describe the opinion of students that STEM-based modules need to be developed. The research method used is the research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. However, it is limited in the analysis stage. The technique of collecting data was by distributing questionnaires via google form to 30 class XI IPA students and to support the data by interviewing physics teachers at SMA Negeri 4 Palangka Raya. The analysis uses a mix method research method. The results of the questionnaire distribution showed that: 1) the teaching materials usually used by teachers in teaching in the classroom were textbooks by 37.21%, Internet by 23.26%, LKS by 16.28%, E-books by 13.95%, and PPT of 9.3%.; 2) Around 83.3% of students have difficulty in learning and understanding physics material; 3) Students need handbooks for students by 93.3%; and 4) There are about 82.8% of students who have never used the STEM approach, in line with the demands of the 21st century, students are expected to be competent in the fields of technology, science, engineering design and mathematics.
