Midilli’de Kreokopou Manastırı Arazi Gelirini Paylaşma Mücadelesi ve Aziz Mahmud Hüdâyî Vakfı

| Popis: | The Ottoman Empire didnot interfere in the matters of non-Muslim ecclesiastical establishmentsas long as they took notice of certain rules set by the state; nevertheless itcontinued to charge taxes on their land and property. Some of the mostimportant of those establishments are monasteries. If the monasteries ownedtheir lands and properties before the conquest, the state did not expropriate them,yet it imposed taxes on the products obtained by cultivating the land. The island of Midilli (Lesvos)was one of the places of special interest of the state. The reasons for thatwere its location, fertile soils and local products. The island’s fertile landsprovided crops for the needs of the palace and the capital city, in addition tothe tax revenues enjoyed by the state. The Kreokopou Monasteryis noteworthy because of its large lands and their products. This work aims at discussing the monastery’sincome, its distribution among the monastery, the state and the vaqf, and alsothe dispute between those parties over the income from these lands. Osmanlı Devleti, fethettiği topraklardaki gayrimüslimdinî kurumların çalışmalarına, bazı durumlara dikkat etmeleri şartıyla sesçıkarmamış fakat bu kurumların elinde bulunan topraklar ve diğer mallardanvergi almayı da ihmal etmemiştir. Bu dinî kurumlar arasında manastırlar önemliyer tutarlar. Devlet, manastırların arazilerini, eskiden itibaren kendilerineait olmaları halinde onlara vermiş ve bu araziler üzerinde ekilen ve dikilenürünlerden vergi ödemelerini kendilerinden istemiştir.Midilli Adası, fethiyle birlikte, devletin özel önemverdiği alanlardan birisi olmuştur. Bu önem adanın konumu, verimli topraklarıve yetiştirilen ürünlerle ilgilidir. Adanın verimli toprakları hem saray vebaşkentin önemli bazı ihtiyaçlarını karşılamış hem de getirdiği vergigelirleriyle devlete önemli faydalar sağlamıştır. Adada bulunan Kreokopou Manastırı, geniş arazisi ve buaraziden alınan ürünleri ile dikkat çeker. Bu çalışmada, manastıra ait arazidenelde edilen gelirin manastır, devlet görevlileri ve arazinin vergisine sahipbir vakıf tarafından nasıl paylaşılmaya çalışıldığı ve arazi gelirlerine sahipolma mücadelesinden bahsedilecektir. |
