One of the major tools of media as the main sourceof discourse and ideology for modernityis the television. TV channels construct hegemony over individuals through the discourses they produce by newsbulletins. TV news that call the individuals as subjects, function as ideological apparatus to alignthe society. In that manner, each TVchannel try to pass its own ideology and discourse. In this research, two TVchannels which are the first examples of their categories will be examined interms of their hegemony- constructing efforts through news broadcasting. The datafor the research was collected by watching the evening news for twomonths. The data was analyzed usingcontent analysis methods. The majorresult of the analysis was the fact that each of the TV channels produced theirideologies and discourses using different representations in relation to theirspecific audience. |
