This paper presents one possible way for enabling interoperability in multimodal biometric systems. By defining specific communication protocols for processes that occur in a multimodal biometric system, we try to enable a standard way of communication between various unimodal biometric solutions operating within the multimodal biometric system. Taking into account the diversity of biometric solutions that are used, proposed communication protocols need to support different biometric data types. Therefore, it is necessary to define a standard biometric data exchange format which will include all specifics of various biometric modalities. |
