Popis: Methods of intergranular corrosion (IGC) testing of welded joints of stainless steels and aluminum alloys were analyzed in this paper. Special attention was paid to austenitic stainless steels, due to their wide application. Classical methods of testing in boiling acid solutions still have wide practical use. Their main disadvantage is the long test duration (up to 240 h). Basic characteristics of these methods are presented in the appropriate tables, including metals and alloys to which methods can be applied, phases in the weldment affected by test solutions, temperatures and duration of tests. Special attention was paid to electrochemical methods for testing IGC. These methods have been increasingly applied in recent years, because of quantitative nature of test results and short test time (several minutes to an hour).
