This paper presents the method by which can be checked whether the projected system (components that are used in digital communication systems) satisfies the intended reliability in data transfer. Based on the selected value for the probability of bit error and a statistical confidence level, we determine the required number of transmitted bits through the system to achieve the desired level of reliability. The procedure is applied to optical systems speed 2.5 Gbit/s and 10 Gbit/s, which have been projected in IRITEL. |
