Popis: Basic mechanisms of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of metals and alloys and their welded joints were described. Metallurgical and corrosion conditions of SCC occurrence on carbon and low alloy steels, particularly in their welded joints, were discussed in detail. In this paper the greatest attention was devoted to the consideration of SCC of stainless steels (austenitic, martensitic, ferritic and duplex stainless steels), especially their welded joints. Considerable attention is also paid to SCC of aluminum alloys series 2000 (Al-Cu-Mg), 5000 (Al-Mn, Al-Mg-Mn) and 7000 (Al-Zn-Mg-(Cu)), while SCC of welded joints of copper alloys, titanium alloys and nickel alloys was briefly discussed.
