Popis: The paper is devoted to the problems of distance education in musical educational institutions in playing musical instrument and singing. The actuality of this problem arose due to COVID-19 pandemic and the following lockdown of all educational institutions. There are a lot of publications devoted to distance education problems, musical disciplines have some specific requirements for education process and need a special approach. Musical education includes some requirements less typical for other fields. Firstly, such disciplines as singing or playing a musical instrument require individual lessons. Secondly, the teacher needs not only to listen for student's playing or singing but also to control the activity of the entire musculoskeletal system of the student during music playing to prevent incorrect activity. This requires non-verbal forms of communication between student and teacher as well as an ability to watch for it from different points of view. Lastly, the ensemble playing or singing practice requires real-time interactions between students. These requirements are actually also for lessons of solo singing or playing most of string or wind instruments with an accompanist. It has been shown that modern communication technologies do not fit the requirements mentioned above. It was experimentally investigated that the delay of audio and video signals during communication via the Internet exceeds 200 ms. This makes almost impossible ensemble playing or singing remotely because musicians would hear each other with a delay. For example, for pieces written in Allegro tempo, this delay would be heard as long as a quarter note. The impossibility of non-verbal communication also makes educational process inferior. It is concluded that problems mentioned above do not allow consider the prospects of distance education of performing musicians as successful. It is suggested the full-time education should be renewed as soon as the lockdown due to pandemic ended. Also, it is suggested that further research of specific forms of communications between student and teacher such as non-verbal communication are needed.
