| Popis: | Vasyl Bezkorovayniy’s personality as a composer, folklorist, and teacher is almost unknown to the public. Moreover, this is when his creative figure, active musical and public activities, occupies a prominent place in the artistic life of Galicia, along with such personalities as Stanislav Lyudkevych, Nestor Nyzhankivskyi and Vasyl Barvinskyi. The composer was born on January 12, 1880 in Ternopil, in the family of an impoverished burgher. He studied at the Teacher`s Seminary, after which he entered the Humanities Gymnasium. At the same time, he began learning to play the violin and piano. After graduating from high school, he went to Lviv and studied physics and mathematics at Lviv Polytechnic University, continued his music studies at the conservatory. In 1911–1913 Bezkorovayniy was a teacher at the Stanislav Gymnasium, worked at a music school, conducted the choir “Boyan”, and organized Shevchenko’s concerts. In 1928 he became one of the founders of the Lviv Ukrainian Music School-branch of the Lviv Higher Music Institute named after Mykola Lysenko, organized the orchestra and took an active part in concert life. Vasyl Bezkorovayniy’s work is multifaceted. He is a composer, conductor, and pianist-accompanist, founder of music schools, choirs and orchestras; longtime conductor of the choir Ternopil “Boyan”. His legacy includes more than 300 musical works of various genres. Some of them remained in manuscripts. From 1949, V. Bezkorovayniy lived in exile in the United States, in Buffalo, where he worked as a professor of piano. He took an active part – as a pianist – in Ukrainian anniversary concerts, in particular, in memory of T. Shevchenko, M. Lysenko, M. Leontovych, as well as ballet performances of children and youth in Buffalo and other cities. His vocal and instrumental music was played in these concerts. Bezkorovainyi died on March 5, 1966 in Buffalo, USA. Стаття містить матеріали про відомого в Галичині композитора, хорового диригента, педагога Василя Безкоровайного. Василь Безкоровайний – композитор, педагог, диригент багатьох хорових колективів товариства “Боян”, які існували в багатьох містах Галичини в кінці ХІХ ‒ поч. ХХ ст. Особистість Василя Безкоровайного для широких кіл є майже незнаною. І це є тоді, коли його творча постать, активна музична та громадська діяльність займають помітне місце в мистецькому житті Галичини поряд з такими особистостями, як Станіслав Людкевич, Нестор Нижанківський та Василь Барвінський. На сьогоднішній день ще не маємо окремих досліджень, присвячених життєвому шляху та творчому доробку Василя Безкоровайного. |
