THE FACADES OF A MULTISTOREY RESIDENTIAL BUILDING: BASIC AND ADDITIONAL TECHNIQUES

| Popis: | Plasticity in the solution of multistorey residential buildings (MRB) is one of the potent means of architectural expression. This article determines basic and additional techniques of the architecture of multistorey residential buildings` facades taking into consideration requirements of visual ecology (videoecology) based on the example of Kyiv.Basic techniques are techniques, which form the volumetric and spatial structure, describe the functional and planning arrangement of a building. Additional techniques are techniques, which form the façade shell, façade area. At the level of large plastics of architectural spatial structures, the techniques: the arrangement of a polifunctional building; horizontal partitioning of the building through the arrangement of each 9th floors` group; division of the body of the building into air zones, the building raised above the ground to preserve the soil layer (“building on support beams”); mixed planning structures of buildings with specific solution of individual floors, etc. At the level of large plastic techniques: large vertical partitioning (a variety of shifts in the volume of the building in relation to each other): the displacement of the vertical row of one or more sections; the shift of part of the planning units; bay windows varying in shape and size; combining the surface of the facade into a single ornamental pattern due to large relief or colored ornament, etc. At the level of small plastic techniques of architectural arrangement of MRBs facade spaces: solution of window and door openings: forms, sizes, proportions, rhythm and placement relative to each other on the facade space, framing of window openings; synthesis of arts; art therapy, supergraphics, graffiti within a specific planning unit of the building; “green graffiti”, permaculture, vertical/horizontal zoning of buffer spaces of the building, elements of railings for stair and elevator junctions, etc.The author noted that at the stages of developing pre-design and design proposals for multistorey residential buildings, basic techniques should be applied. In the conditions of existing housing environment, in Kyiv, it is necessary to apply additional techniques, subject to the visual landscape analysis of the urban planning situation.
