To enable predictions of how muskoxen, as a cold-adapted species, will respond to a rapidly warming Arctic, understanding the current drivers of population dynamics and distributions is a prerequisite. This requires detailed knowledge of habitat requirements, space use and behavioural flexibility under contemporary environmental conditions. Capitalising on recent technological and analytical advances in the field of movement ecology, this dissertation explores the year-round movement and behavioural strategies of a remote, predator-free population of muskoxen in northeast Greenland. |
