Popis:	The aerial parts of CUNILA SPICATA Benth., a Brasilian Lamiaceae, afforded a sesquiterpene-aldehyde named isocaryophyllen-13-al (beta-betulenal) ( 1). The constitution and configuration of this compound were established by high field NMR-techniques for the first time.
