Popis: The species and quantitative composition of the normal and conditionally pathogenic microflora of the stomach, the proximal portion of the small intestine, in material obtained by biopsy from the mucosa of this portion, and in feces was studied in 10 patients with non-specific ulcerative colitis. The study was made before and after treatment. Before treatment in most of the patients gastric juice and the proximal portion of the small intestine were found to be greatly contaminated with microflora commonly present in feces, and in fecal microflora sharp dysbiotic changes were observed. As a result of treatment the microflora was essentially normalized (with the exception of Proteus and bifidobacteria).
